We are all created for a purpose. None of us are here by accident no matter how we came into the world. God created us to live at this particular time in history for a reason.
So many times we compare ourselves to others and feel that we are unimportant, insignificant and do not make a difference. That is totally wrong. It is a lie of the enemy that many of us have bought into. God wants all of us to come to Him and accept Him as our personal Savior and Lord. He wants us to fulfill our destiny – the reason He created us. If you are breathing means you still have a purpose for being here.
We cannot all be preachers or evangelists. God never intended for all of us to be. Often we think that if we are not in some sort of preaching ministry then we are not making a difference. If you are a Christian, you are a ministry! It may not be on a stage in front of a crowd of people, but we all have a sphere of influence. Just think about the people in your life – family, friends, co-workers, etc, etc – people whose lives you touch on a daily basis. That adds up to a lot of folks. These are people that you can affect. You can love them, encourage them, and be an example for them. That is an important job and how you deal with them does make a difference.
It takes all kinds of people doing all kinds of jobs to make this world go around. Start right where you are by making a conscious effort to be the best person you can be and pour yourself into others. God wants us to put Him first. He wants us to love ourselves and love others. He wants us to be content where we are and seek His guidance and wisdom daily. This can be done by a housewife as well as a senator or a corporate attorney.
God gave each of us giftings and callings. What are you good at? What type of job gives you joy? Those things were put into you for a reason. Don’t ignore them. Focus on your strengths – not your weaknesses. Everybody is good at something. Grow where you are planted. It may only be for a season – or it could be for a lifetime. Do what you can and leave the rest up to God. You can make a difference right where you are and it won’t be by accident!
