Words…the most powerful things in the universe. God used words to speak all creation into being. Look at the first chapter of Genesis. It repeatedly says, “Then God said…and it was so.” Throughout the Bible words were spoken to accomplish many things.
Words still carry the same power today. They can be negative or positive words. In Proverbs 18:21 it says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” And Matthew 12:37 says, “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Stop and listen to the things you say on a daily basis. Are you speaking words of life or death about yourself and others? Whatever you say will eventually come to pass. You can change the course of your life just by changing the words you let come out of your mouth. This will take a conscious effort on your part, but it will be worthwhile in the long run.
The most important words you can speak are confessing Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. In Romans 10:9 it says, “That if you confess with your mouth” (this means saying it out loud) “the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
If you have never done this, we encourage you to do so today. Many people feel a void in their lives that nothing has been able to fill. Only Jesus can fill it and make you complete. Then you will have a peace you never imagined and the assurance of eternal life.
