Worry

WORRY By: Patsy Weiser

Are you a worrier? Do you spend time trying to figure out a solution to something that hasn't even happened? God is rather firm in Matthew 6 commanding us not to worry about tomorrow and everyday life. He asks, "Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?" We know they can't. Actually they can shorten our lives by the adverse effects worry can have on our health.

If we do something that God specifically tells us not to do in His Word, then we are sinning. Therefore, we can say that worrying is a sin. WOW!! That revelation is an eye opener!

By worrying, we are indicating to God that we don't trust Him to provide for us and take care of us. However, He tells us that we are far more valuable to Him than the animals. Yet He takes care of them. He tells us to "seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give us everything we need." We are required to do something first (cast our cares on Him) - then God will do His part. Try it and see if it is not so.

Next time you want to worry - STOP and remind yourself of what God has commanded and promised. He is not a man that He should lie. If He said it, He will do it. You will experience the peace of God in a way you may never have felt before. That takes all the pressure off of us. Now that is something to shout about!
